If you want to change the position of your lighting, you need to talk to a qualified electrician and get the work done before you decorate.
- Ambience – what sort of atmosphere do you want to create? Soft lighting is warm and welcoming; putting table lamps on furniture such as side tables, bedside tables or console tables is a great way of generating soft light. Reading light is important to many people – if it’s important to you, think about a standard lamp with an optional brighter light that can be used for reading or working without flooding the whole room with light. Fairy lights around furniture such as shelving units can create a fun and funky look.
- Style – as with your furniture, you need to settle on a style for your lighting. Traditional lamps and shades look great in certain settings, but if you’ve gone for a contemporary look with your furniture, you’ll need to choose modern lighting too. Fortunately, there are so many different styles available, that you should have no problem finding something that works for your home.
